Former head is honoured with fountain at Mansfield’s Manor Academy

Retired head teacher Jonathon Hickman unveiled a fountain and ornamental garden dedicated to him in honour of his 20 years service at Mansfield’s Manor Academy.

Crowds of staff and governors gathered at Manor Academy to watch as their new fountain and ornamental garden was unveiled outside Main Reception.

Mt Hickman, who is using his retirement to spend more time with his family and grandchildren, said: “The fountain, the garden, and the effort the staff have put in to this whole project is overwhelming. I promised myself I wouldn’t cry but this is really touching.

“I spent some of the best days of my life at Manor and I will always treasure my time working here.”

New Principal, Donna Trusler, said: “Although he’s no longer here every day, the fountain provides a warm welcome to every visitor to Manor, just like Jonathon used to.

“The most important quality Jonathon left with all of us was the ability to approach every situation and every day with a positive attitude and a smile.”
