Foul-mouthed rant lands youth major in trouble

She may have only been in office for a few days, but Mansfield’s new youth mayor has landed herself in hot water for misusing social media.

Samworth Church Academy student Tanna Nita was elected to the role last week, following a close run competition.

But now the 16-year-old has been exposed for a string of foul-mouthed remarks on her Twitter feed.

The tweets, some posted as recently as October 10th, date back to September of last year and make extensive use of bad language, with some also including mild sexual references.

Shortly after Chad was tipped off about the tweets, Miss Nita’s privacy settings were ramped up and Mayor Tony Egginton said the authority is working with the young politician to ensure she conforms to their code of conduct in the future.

He said: “We have a clear support programme throughout the election process and once in post, to ensure the youth mayor, deputy youth mayor and youth ambassador meet the council’s code of conduct.

“We have reiterated the appropriate use of social media with them and will continue to support them going forward.”

Tanna received 1,378 votes in the recent election to beat second placed Tom Richardson.
