Free money saving advice on household bills

Householders can find out how to save money on energy bills at two free events in Mansfield in March.

Rising energy bills are one of the biggest concerns this winter and the Big Energy Saving Network is providing impartial advice and support on suitable tariffs and the cheapest way to pay bills.

A drop-in session will be held at Mansfield District Council, Oakham Room, on 24th March from 10.30am until 3pm and at Mansfield Central Library on 25th March from 10am to 1pm for anyone interested in saving money and managing their energy bills better. Please bring your latest bill with you.

Mansfield District Council’s specially trained advisor will run the session, which is funded by the Department of Energy and Climate Change and supported by the sustainability and education charity, Change Agents UK.

The Big Energy Saving Network provides specially trained advisors who will be running community events throughout the winter to help people to reduce their energy consumption, lower their tariff and change suppliers to get the best deal to suit their needs.

At the session, people can also find out about schemes offered by the Government or energy suppliers that could help with their energy costs.

Coun Philip Shields, portfolio holder for the environment, said: “With energy costs rising, these free advice sessions are an excellent way for residents to potentially save money on their energy bills and stay warm in winter. Our trained officer can provide advice on how to find the best deal to suit you. Don’t forget to bring your latest bill along with you, to help find the most suitable tariff.”
