This will mean residents will be able to park in any council owned car park for one hour free of charge, providing there’s a ticket on display which can be obtained from the current tariff machines located in the car parks.

Hucknall south councillor Keir Morrison, said: “We have listened to residents and traders alike and have acted upon our flagship election pledge.

“I’m pleased we are going to deliver on our free parking promise so early in our administration. Free parking is in addition to the free swimming, cleaner streets and our continuing projects on housing in the district.”

Deputy leader at Ashfield District Council, Coun Don Davis, said: “I welcome the free hour’s parking; this will bring forward what traders have been demanding for their businesses. A pre-Christmas launch should hopefully see a boost to trade over this important time for Ashfield’s town centres.”
