Frosty morning warning for drivers

AS EARLY-morning frost hits the Dispatch district, motorists are being warned not to leave the engines of their cars running while they de-ice windscreens.

Police say that by leaving keys in the ignition, drivers are providing the perfect opportunity for thieves to strike.

Temporary Inspector Andy Knight said: “Technological advances have made it increasingly difficult for thieves to drive away a car without the key, so the security of the key itself has become as important as that of the car.”

He added: “You can never be too sure who is watching your home and car at any given time.”
