Fury over road surfacing delays on Annesley estate

Residents who live on the newly developed Persimmon and Morris Homes estate were left in limbo after a dispute between the developers meant two roads were unfinished.

Residents of Lacey Grove and Owston Road found themselves in limbo this summer after joint developers Persimmon and Morris homes were unsure over who was responsible for doing the work.

Alan Warhurst of Owston Road, said; “We have been living here just over a year and the roads have been left in an absolutely disgraceful state. They are full of pot holes.”

“The delay has been completely unacceptable. This should have been done when we first moved in over a year ago. The whole situation has caused unnecessary stress – we just want the work done.”

Dean Price-Hood of Owston Road, said: “When Morris Homes left the site earlier this year they didn’t put any drainage in and left my house and others in danger of flooding.

“Not once has anyone from the company visited the site to clean the mess or put in place any plans to prevent this happening in future.”

Morris Homes accepted responsibility and have now promised to start the work on November 3.

MP Gloria De Piero who intervened on behalf of residents said: “Thankfully it looks like my pressure has paid off but if this work isn’t completed, I’ll come down on them like a tonne of bricks.” Morris Homes had not replied to our request for a comment when we went to press.
