A PETITION has been launched calling for improved road-safety measures at a blackspot in Hucknall where a young girl was injured in a dramatic accident.
Two weeks ago, six year-old Lara Arnold suffered a broken leg after being involved in a collision with a car as she crossed Washdyke Lane.
She was heading to the Pears convenience store from the Washdyke Lane recreation ground at the time.
Little Lara suffered a broken leg but six-years ago, 17-year-old Daniel Banks was killed in an accident at almost exactly the same spot.
Now community activist Collette Parkin has launched the petition in a bid to prompt action and protect road users in the future. The document is available to sign at Pears.
This campaign is supported by Lara’s family, including dad Anthony.
He said: “We all wholeheartedly support the petition as at the time of Lara’s accident, the street was packed full of vehicles.
“If the council could just put yellow zig- zags in the area it would make it much safer for everyone.”
