ANIMAL-lovers in Bulwell who are looking for a new pet this summer are being urged to consider abandoned dogs who are waiting for a new home.
Five stray dogs are picked up by Nottingham City Council wardens each day but the capacity at boarding kennels is at breaking point.
Coun Alex Norris (Lab), the city council’s lead member for community safety, said: “We keep any strays we find for seven days for their owners to collect. But this year, a lot of the dogs we pick up are not being collected. Our policy is to try and find a new home for them, so we are appealing for those considering a new dog to visit rescue centres first.”
