Gloria De Piero launches kids Christmas card design competition

Ashfield MP Gloria De Piero has once again invited every pupil in primary and infant schools in Ashfield to pick up their pens, pencils, crayons and paint brushes and help design her personal Christmas card this year.

The MP wants to showcase the talent of local school children from across the area and the competition has been a big hit since it was introduced.

At the end of November a panel made up of judges from the Chad, Eastwood Advertiser and local firm Van Elle will be given the tough task of having to pick out this year’s winning card.

One lucky child will then see their very own design professionally printed on the front of Gloria’s Christmas cards which will then be sent to a number of people, organisations and businesses across the constituency and Westminster.

The competition is open to all pupils regardless of their age and for those schools with a nursery, younger children have also been invited to take part. All designs should be submitted on white A4 paper with the name of the child and the school recorded on the back and returned to the constituency office no later than Friday 21st November.

Following the launch Gloria said: “Christmas is only ten weeks away and I want to give the kids and their teachers as much time as possible to come up with their designs. Every year the standard just blows me away – the judges are certainly going to have their work cut out that’s for sure because we’ve got no end of talented kids in Ashfield.”

Gloria added; “I must say a huge thank you to local business Van Elle because without their backing and incredible generosity we wouldn’t be able to hold this competition.”
