FAMILIES really ‘dig’ a project for a new community garden which is being set up in Bulwell.
The site is at the back of Cantrell Primary School, off Austin Street, and hopes are high that it will create a green space which residents of all ages can enjoy.
The secretary of Bulwell Forest Action Group, Bill Blackamore, enthused: “It will be an excellent way for youngsters in Bulwell’s urban community to get in contact with nature.”
He predicted that the garden would provide ‘something to be really proud of, comprising an oasis of beauty and calm’.
People of Bulwell will be able to use the garden to grow their own fruit and vegetables in exchange for a £1 membership fee. Workshops and creative events will be held there.
An event on Saturday June 9 from 2 pm to 6 pm will mark the grand opening of the garden and also celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
