Guilty theft plea for confessed alcoholic

A self-confessed alcoholic has pleaded guilty to theft from a supermarket in Ashfield, and was ordered to pay £230.

Devon Watson (22), of Boston Street, Nottingham, admitted to stealing alcohol and crisps on 14 April this year.

Appearing in Mansfield Magistrates Court, he was not represented but explained that he is an alcoholic and acted foolishly while intoxicated.

The theft took place at the Aldi store in Kirkby, and value of the stolen goods are unknown.

After taking Mr Watson’s circumstances in to consideration, the court have made him pay £230 to cover the fine, and court costs, and Mr Watson said he ‘regrets’ his actions.
