Have your say on proposals to boost economy

Businesses and residents across Tibshelf are being invited to have their say about a new document setting out ambitions to support economic growth in Derbyshire.

The Derbyshire Economic Strategy Statement (DESS) has been developed by the Derbyshire Economic Partnership (DEP) which is made up of representatives from the public, private and voluntary sectors across the county, supported by Derbyshire County Council.

The document sets out Derbyshire’s competitive strengths and opportunities and centres around three key themes to encourage more inward investment, to help existing businesses to grow and to raise the skills and aspirations of Derbyshire’s workforce.

Richard Horsley, chairman of DEP, said: “Derbyshire Economic Partnership has continued to work together during the recession and into the recovery to ensure the businesses of our county are represented and supported.

“The new strategy looks to support economic growth whilst preserving what makes our county special.”

CouJoan Dixon, Derbyshire County Council’s cabinet member for jobs, added: “This strategy is ambitious and positive about Derbyshire’s future but also highlights the support and investment we need.”
