SERVICEMEN and women from the Dispatch district are being urged to take advantage of a new support service after they leave the armed forces.
The Nottinghamshire Veterans’ Partnership links providers of health services, housing, councils, and volunteer groups to provide a hassle-free way to access support networks.
Its main aim is to help those who might be struggling to settle back into civilian life after leaving the forces.
Veterans can have difficulty accessing help for their range of problems, which often include stress, debt and housing.
Currently, a person who has left the forces may have to access services separately to cater for their needs. However, through the new system, a veteran would have to make just one contact.
An assessment would be carried out and a tailored support package provided.
Each individual will also be assigned a dedicated case worker.
