Help keep Skegby’s RBL club open
The club’s old premises were closed down and boarded up causing it to lose many of its members.

Hide AdElaine Hopkins , who is campaigning to keep Skegby’s Royal British Legion (RBL) club running fears for its future.
“When the Skegby Club closed down, it also had an affect on the RBL who used the premises and we went from about 100 members to 15,” Elaine said.
“All of our current members are between 70 and 88 and are not IT literate.

Hide Ad“We are asking for new members to take part and help keep flying the Royal British Legion’s flag in Skegby,” she added.
Members do not have to be ex service to join.
The club now meets at the Triple ‘S’ Snooker Club on Mansfield Road in Skegby.
They will hold their first meeting at the new premises on 15th October to welcome new and old members. Membership is £14 a year and the group meets once a month.

Hide AdThe Royal British Legion is a charity which offers support, advice and care to serving and ex service men of the Armed Forces.
Elaine said: “You don’t have to be ex service to join the club. Before I joined I didn’t know what the RBL were about.
“I have been a member for 8 years now and love it.
“It is all about supporting the aims of the RBL, comradeship and welfare of those who serve in the Armed Forces.”

Hide AdThe club is also appealing for a club secretary and IT literate member to join its Skegby branch and help with the administrative support.
