A NEW service has been launched to support selfless carers in Hucknall who find themselves in crisis.
The Carers’ Crisis Prevention Scheme has been launched by Notts County Council to give reassurance and practical help in emergencies.
East Midlands Crossroads and North Notts Crossroads are providing the service at a cost of £85,000 this year.
They will provide on-call trained and Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checked workers to step in when needed to continue care.
“Many carers worry about how they will cope in the event of an emergency or crisis which would make it very difficult for them to care for the person they look after,” said Hucknall’s Coun Kevin Rostance (Con), chairman of the council’s adult social care and health committee.
“This service has been set up to provide a quick response for carers who experience such difficulties.”
Circumstances covered by the service could include the carer themselves becoming ill or going into hospital or a family emergency.
The service is free and available to all unpaid carers, aged 18 and above, who are caring for another adult living at home.
