Judges at the Midlands Family Business Awards praised Robert Woodhead Ltd, of Brailwood Road, for its overall approach to corporate social responsibility.
Panellists at the University of Birmingham event said the company’s community activities were phenomenal and reflected a thoughtful and considered approach in order to achieve results.
David Woodhead, managing director, said: “It makes me very proud that my family’s values remain absolutely key to delivering our vision of making building a better experience for all.
“Living by our shared values is critical to the success and growth of our business.”
A Robert Woodhead spokesman said Framework Housing had benefited from a number of initiatives supported by the firm, including an educational resource for primary school teachers.
Framework’s Andrea Carver said: “We are delighted that Robert Woodhead has won the award.
“Our partnership with Robert Woodhead is really valuable - it enables us to do things that would otherwise be impossible without their continued support.”
But the list of grateful beneficiaries goes on.
The firm actively supports a number of community programmes such as Mansfield and Ashfield Career Champions. It works with the service to provide young people with employability skills and added career support.
Robert Woodhead also took part in an initiative helping restore derelict properties into homes for ex-service families to live in.
This was an initiative by Houses2Homes, which the company supported.
Aimi Townsend, of Houses2Homes, said: “With such a tight deadline we needed support from the key trades.
“Robert Woodhead Ltd got involved at just the right time to ensure the project was completed.
“They provided a key skill and our veterans were impressed with the training they were given by the joiners.”
She said the families who will benefit from their involvement are grateful for all the help and support from Robert Woodhead.
