High-speed 4G broadband is to be rolled out in Kirkby.

Phone giant O2 has announced it will start work on the service, as well a improving its 2G and 3G network.

Planned to begin on March 7, and subject to successful implementation and testing, customers will see the new and improved service in the following weeks.

Derek McManus, chief operating officer for Telefónica UK said: “Customers in Kirkby will soon be able to experience faster mobile internet on their devices such as streaming high definition TV, shopping on the go, and video calling.

“For our business customers, 4G is all about working more effectively.

“They can work remotely, access cloud services, collaborate using apps and so on. 4G will make everything easier for them.”

During the work, customers are being warned they may experience temporary signal problems.

O2 say they are spending £600 million this year on upgrading their network, and by the end of 2017 will
