Hit-and-run man admits injuring volunteer cop

A MAN who was arrested in Linby has admitted injuring a volunteer police officer in a hit-and-run that broke her leg.

Lee Ashton (24), of Mosswood Crescent, Bestwood Estate, was picked up on Waterloo Road on Sunday November 13.

In the early hours of the same day, he was driving a car in Nottingham city centre that ploughed into Special Constable Carly Henfrey.

At Nottingham Crown Court, Ashton admitted charges of causing grievous bodily harm, common assault, dangerous driving and driving while disqualified. He will be sentenced on Monday January 23.
