Holgate film a winner in Gedling Festival

Holgate’s entry into the Gedling Film Festival came out tops winning the Young Person’s category.

The festival was held over the weekend of 3rd and 4th May with Offside - the short film made by the current year 10 Film Studies class - was shown.

The film was successful in the preliminary rounds, making it as a finalist with many pupils, parents and teachers supporting the event.

“After the viewing, class members were treated to a little glimmer of the celebrity lifestyle with interviews and photoshoots by the press,” said teacher, Mr Morgan.

“On Sunday evening, the award ceremony was held when, despite stiff competition, it was fantastic to hear that Offside was the overall winner.”

Alissa Peutrill was present to accept the award on the class’ behalf and received the trophy and certificate.

“I would like to take the opportunity to thank all pupils, parents and staff who took time to visit the festival to support the film,” added Mr Morgan. “Both myself and the pupils are incredibly thankful for your support.”

The film has also been nominated for the Young Creative Awards, which will be held at the Nottingham Royal Concert Hall on Monday 19th May.

The tickets to this event are free so if you would like to support the pupils further then please visit http://www.youngcreativeawards.org/ to get your ticket.
