A CHARITY abseil and a raffle have helped a building society and estate agency in Hucknall play its part in a charity initiative to help homeless people.

The Nottingham, which has a branch on High Street, is aiming to raise more than £10,000 across all its outlets for the charity Framework.

Several daredevil staff members took part in an abseil down Pearl House in Nottingham city centre.

Included in this stunt was Diane Richardson, of Papplewick Lane, Hucknall, who is a customer adviser at the Hucknall branch of The Nottingham. Overall, the abseil raised £3,190.

Diane said: “It was a long way down but it was quite exhilarating. I suppose it’s a bit like a parachute jump. Everyone says they want to do it but when reality sets in, it’s difficult!”

Each individual branch is also running fundraisers. The latest in Hucknall was the raffle, which featured the main prize of a hamper. It was packed with treats, donated by staff, ranging from alcohol to chocolates, biscuits and popcorn. The raffle raised more than £100.
