Hucknall Cake Bake cooks up cash for charities

There’s nothing beats a slice of cake and a cuppa and that’s what Hucknall’s Mandy and Abbie Sims was relying on for their latest fundraiser.#

The pair held a Cake Bake at their Penhale Drive home from 2-4pm on Saturday 5th July welcoming friends, family, neighbours and anyone wanting to enjoy an afternoon tea.

“We were really worried about the weather after all the rain on Friday but we were very lucky that the sun came out for us,” said Mandy. “We held a similar event last year and collected £160 but this year we made it bigger and managed to collect £300. We’re delighted.”

The funds will be equally divided between Eyes Alight, who help to make brain injury rehabilitation a little brighter and THHN Torbay Holiday Helpers Network, which provide families with seriously ill children or parents with a holiday when they need it the most.

“Lots of people contributed cakes and raffle prizes which included a luxury afternoon tea at Beauvale Priory Tea Rooms and Nottingham Forest merchandise,” added Mandy. “I want to thank everyone for coming along on the day for supporting the event and also those who gave us the fabulous selection of prizes.”
