Excited youngsters from Belarus are pictured making a “spectacle” of themselves during a visit to Bond’s Opticians in Hucknall .

The young visitors aged between seven and eight are with Hucknall’s Friends of Chernobyl Children’s charity as part of a four week stay with host families.

Staff at Bonds Opticians, including practice manager Angela Brown (front right) and optician Emma Curry (front left) welcomed the special guests, who ,along with their teacher Olya Gorelova (front centre) were given specialist eye tests.

“Bonds Opticians have supported us right from the beginning 16-years-ago and the kindness and expertise that they have shown has been greatly appreciated” said fundraiser Kim Challand.

Kim also paid tribute to the Hucknall based Oasis Dental Practice which has also provided expert care and treatment for the children whose lives have been affected by the Chernobyl disaster.

“Nothing is too much trouble for these wonderful health care professionals who have gone out of their way to help our cause,” added Kim.
