Hucknall concert attracts a full house

Bestwood Male Voice Choir’s annual concert in memory of their founder, Len Hogg, attracted a full house at the Central Methodist Church in Hucknall.

The event was also dedicated to five highly-valued members of the choir who have died during the past year.

The concert began with the rousing number, ‘Let All Men Sing’, and other items in the well-varied programme ranged from the moving ‘Bring Him Home’ from ‘Les Miserables’ to ‘O What A Beautiful Morning.’

Soloists Colin Pursglove and bass Adrian Griffiths sang two solos apiece. Adrian’s wife, Hilary, was piano accompanist and the choir were conducted by their musical director, Mirek Rus.

The second half included two trilogies, the African and the American, and the choir were joined by organist Michael Anthony for two numbers.

A welcome and vote of thanks were given by church minister The Rev David Winstanley.

As a hand-clapping encore, the choir sang ‘Amarillo’, which was Hucknall Town Football Club’s signature tune when they played in the final of the FA Trophy at Villa Park nine seasons ago.
