Hucknall dancers shine at national competition

Rising stars from a Hucknall dance school have given it their all at their first national competition.

Ellie Turner (7) and Billy Turner (9) took part in the Ballroom and Latin Nation wide Medallist Competition this month .

The Blackpool event was a first for Rebekah Priestley’s School of Dancing, set up six months ago.

Owner Rebekah Priestley said it has been a goal of a lifetime to become a professional and run her own school.

“I have been dancing since I was two and a half and I turned professional on my 17th birthday.

“At 15 I decided I wanted to be the best I could be and one day open my own dance school.

“It has been a dream come true but I was also motivated to do it for the community in Hucknall,” She said.

Ellie and Billy qualified last year for the nation wide finals and got through to the qualifying rounds this year.

They are now preparing to do even better next year.

Miss Priestley added: “All the dancers did so well, to just qualify is brilliant.

“We hope to take more kids next year as this is only our first competition.

“I am really proud of my pupils who took part this time, a big well done to them.”

Kaycee Gamble (10) also performed alongside Billy and Ellie in the ballroom and Latin competition.

The Rebekah Priestley School of Dancing, based at The John Godber Centre, holds children’s classes on a Tuesday and also does private lessons for all ages.
