A group of three friends from Hucknall have completed a sponsored swim for charity.

Charlotte Dix (8), Katie Flint (8), Molly Urwin (7) and Isabel Plummer (7) completed between half a mile and one mile for a number of local charities at Hucknall Leisure Centre.

Carl Dix, Charlotte’s dad, said the girls were inspired to do the sponsored swim after their swimming teacher egged them on.

He said: “We had a big turn out from parents and grandparents so it was a great atmosphere all round.

“The leisure centre were really supportive and dedicated a swimming lane to us for the event so that was really good of them.”

Charlotte swam for Guide Dogs for the blind and Children in Need.

The children received prizes after the event on Saturday 29th June including a medal, trophy and Guide Dogs for the blind even sent over a few goodie bags.

Mr Dix added: “All the charities were really supportive of the event and the girls did so well, we are really proud of them .”

Charlotte raised a total of £650 for Guide Dogs with match funding from her swimming teacher, Marine.
