Hucknall has its very own Robin Hood
Paul Bailey, 55, who has worked on Nottingham’s tram network for almost a decade, is also a champion field archer having already picked up a national title along with nearly 60 competition medals in the last four years.
Paul is a specialist with what is termed as a ‘Primitive’ bow, which is made only from natural materials in a style similar to what would have been used more than 1,000 years ago.

Hide AdHucknall-born Paul said: “I first took up archery when I was younger and picked it up again after being inspired by watching the London Olympics on the television four years ago.
“Nowadays, if you don’t find me driving a NET tram, I’m probably in my back garden perfecting my technique or travelling around the country to take part in various archery competitions.”
After being crowned national champion in his class at the National Field Archery Society’s (NFAS) Championships last September, Paul also finished as a runner-up at NFAS’s 3D Championships in May.
The championships saw more than 600 archers compete across different classes of bows, shooting at life-size models of animals across Thoresby Park in Nottinghamshire.

“Hearing Paul talk about his archery techniques and competitions he’s entered is fascinating, it’s like we have our own Robin Hood.”
