Hucknall high-flyers raise cash for Missing People charity

Olivia Swinscoe, her boyfriend Danny Rose and sister Amelia, have expressed their grateful thanks to everyone who has played a part in helping them to support the little known charity Missing People.

The caring trio embarked on their charity challenge after Olivia (19), left Hucknall National where Amelia (16),is a Year 11 student, to go on to Sheffiled Universaity where she undertook A Lloyds Scholarship and Internship.

“Part of the Lloyds initiative involved fund-raising,volunteering and helping good causes,” said Olivia.

“When I was considering my charity options I was introduced to Missing People, a voluntary organisation that provides lifelines to individuals and families of missing and suicidal adults and vulnerable children, when someone close disappears.”

Danny (19), who is studying at Nottingham Trent University, agreed to take part in the Skydive in support of the sisters and together they were thrilled by what they described as “An unbelievable experience..

“When you are 10,000ft in the air and you begin free-falling at 120mph there is a great adrenalin rush and so many mixed emotions.

“We would all definitely do it again and while it is very scary and undoubtedly challenging, it is a really exhilarating experience.”said Danny.

Olivia who is a leader with the 70th St. Williams Girl Guides in Sheffield and Amelia, who is a Young Leader with the 1st Greasley Guides said: “ We were overwhelmed by the support we received. We would particularly like to thank our respective families ,friends, fellow students and staff as well as our Guiding friends and leaders who have been amazing.”

A spokesperson for the Missing People organisation expressed their gratitude to the three caring teenagers.

“ They have shown courage, determination and a willingness to help others.

“ The money they have raised will go to support the families and loved ones of the 250,000 people who run away or go missing each year”.

Missing People was formed more than 20-years-ago and was honoured in 2013 by receiving a Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Volunteering award.Patrons of the charity include Sir Cliff Richard, Sir Trevor Mcdonald and Sir. Richard Branson.
