The decision was made at this week’s open meeting of the group at the Sure Start Children’s Centre on Broomhill Road, Hucknall.

The organisation was originally formed in response to an initiative by retail guru Mary Portas to form town teams, aimed at revitalising town centres.

The reason for adopting the new name is to raise the group’s profile and show that it liaises with other organisations which are also working to promote Hucknall.

Coun Trevor Locke, a Hucknall Labour member of Ashfield District Councii, said We Love Hucknall would hopefullly benefit from people coming forward with new ideas.

An extraordinry meeting will be held to change the name from I Love Hucknall in the group’s constitution.

Ken Robinson, chairman of Hucknall Tourism and Regeneration Group, said a lot of things would be happening in the town up to Christmas, giving ample opportunity to fly the We Love Hucknall flag.

The group made a big local impact when it organised a successful ‘High Street Bonanza’ fun day on Saturday 23rd August, when the upper part of the street was pedestrianised for the day.

It is hoped that We Love Hucknall will be represented at a ‘Make a Difference Day’ charity market on Friday 31st October from 9am to 3pm, which is an opportunity for organisations to gain public interest and recruit volunteers.

We Love hucknall’s next open meeting will take place at the Sure Start Centre on 25th November, starting at 6pm.
