Hucknall MP steps in to help residents

Hucknall MP Mark Spencer has stepped in to help residents complaining that graffiti and poor property maintenance is blighting their lives.

Mr Spencer says that he received an anonymous letter that included photographs showing problems at flats in Goodall Crescent.

He recently met with residents, including the local PCSO, to look at the problems and find a solution.

Mr Spencer said: “I wanted to offer whatever support I could to put pressure on Ashfield Homes, the responsible authority, to put the situation right.

“There were a number of issues raised, including drug use, anti-social behaviour and littering.”

He has now written to Ashfield Homes to highlight issues, including repairs that need doing and to ask whether CCTV would be installed.

Kelly Scott director ofhousing services at Ashfield Homes, said: “Following an enquiry from Mark Spencer, MP, regarding Goodall Crescent, senior managers from Ashfield Homes visited the area on 27th January 2014.

“Some issues were identified including a small number of repairs and graffiti, these will be completed in accordance with our priority guidelines.

“Mr Spencer, MP, has also brought to our attention a number of issues that involve other agencies, which we have undertaken to refer on.”
