Hucknall rotarians dig in and help Leen Mills School improve their outdoor space

An exciting partnership has developed between Hucknall Rotary Club and Leen Mills Primary School to develop part of the school’s ground to facilitate the further education of pupils in nature and agriculture.

Phrase One of the project was completed this week under the direction of rotarian Neil Sharman. Hucknall club members removed a rotten and dilapidated fence around the school pond, and with a generous donation of materials from builders merchant, John A. Stephens, were able to construct a sturdier boundary to the pond now allowing for enough safe space to permit the children to learn about pond life.

Rotary’s East Midlands District Governor Steve Lawes visited Hucknall and was present, along with children, staff and Hucknall rotarians, for the official unveiling of the structure.

The next phrase of the project will be developed on ground adjacent to the pond in the vegetable plots.
