Hucknall’s junior parkrun is going from strength to strength with now more than 60 youngsters taking part.
Parkrun organise free, weekly timed runs delivered by local volunteers providing opportunities for people to be more active.
The junior parkrun is a 2K run for juniors aged four to 14-years-old and the Hucknall parkrun, supported by Ashfield District Council and Sport Nottinghamshire, takes place every Sunday at 9am at Titchfield Park, Hucknall.
Councillor Jim Aspinall, Portfolio Holder for Health and Wellbeing at Ashfield District Council, said: “Regular participation in physical activity is important as part of a healthy lifestyle.
“Hucknall junior parkrun provides a fantastic and free opportunity for young people and their families to get active on their doorstep, helping to fulfil our desire to get more people active within the local community.”
The weekly run starts at 9am and participants must register at www.parkrun.org.uk before attending and bring their printed barcode along with them in order to receive an official time.
The aim of the run is to have fun so you can go along and join in whatever pace you are. Adults are welcome to join in and run with their children to support them but only children will get a finish time.
The park café will also be open during the run providing an opportunity for participants and family members to grab a post parkrun coffee.
