Hucknall woman pleads guilty to dangerous driving after police chase in town

Kimberly Heathcote, of Lime Tree Road, Hucknall, pleaded guilty at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday to driving a Vauxhall Astra dangerously on Nottingham Road and elsewhere in the town on 9th September.

She admitted taking the Astra, belonging to her partner, and being involved in an accident which damaged another car, a Hyundai.

She also pleaded guilty to insurance and driving licence offences.

The court heard she had a prior conviction for a driving matter.

She was depressed following a bereavement and panicked after seeing a police car, the court was told.

She was due to see her doctor later this week, said her advocate Digby Johnson.

Judge Gregory Dickinson adjourned sentencing until 3rd January for a probation report to be prepared.

But the judge warned her that bail was no indication as to the eventual sentence.

Driving in an attempt to get away from the police was a serious matter. ‘Mercifully no serious injury was caused but you took the risk.’

The judge imposed an interim driving disqualification but said in due course there would be a minimum 12 months’ ban.
