Hundreds of jobs under threat at Annesley firm Prolog

Prolog, which is sited at Sherwood Business Park, is currently in consultation with its 442 warehouse operatives but is hoping to lose staff through voluntary redundancies.

The news comes just five months after an initial round of redundancies saw the warehouse management team reduced from 85 to 52 people.

“This is the second stage of a planned two stage process to reduce our warehousing team,” said Ian Dignum, strategic development and communications director at Prolog. “In January we reduced our management team members and now we are looking at the reduction of warehouse operatives.”

According to its website Prolog is ‘the UK’s largest privately owned outsourced services provider with a client base that spans the public, private and not-for-profit sectors’.

It has been running for over 30 years and provides businesses with warehousing, communications and retail logistics.

“We act on behalf of a variety of businesses that demand flexibility,” explained Mr Dignum. “Business is changing and we have to adapt to meet those changing demands.”

“We are currently in the consultation process with our employees so I don’t want to discuss the numbers at this point.

“But business is challenging at the moment and we have to reduce our numbers and do things differently to meet our clients’ needs.

“There was a time when the job was 9-5 but the working model is changing and it is now necessary to react differently and work alternative shift patterns.”

The consultation process is due to end on 8th July.
