SMOKERS from the Dispatch district are among more than 2,000 in Nottinghamshire who stubbed out the habit in a six-month period — with support from local health services.
Between April and September last year, NHS Nottinghamshire County Teaching Primary Care Trust (PCT) helped 2,261 smokers quit with backing from doctors, pharmacists and New Leaf, which is the county’s stop-smoking service.
Lynn Robinson, of the PCT, said: “Smoking is still the single-biggest cause of preventable death in this country. Aside from the obvious health-benefits, there are many other social and financial reasons for quitting.”
Smokers can contact New Leaf on 0800 3897712 or speak to their doctor for advice.
