Improved bus service for villages

Residents in areas of rural Ashfield and Alfreton will be able to get into Nottingham on public transport more easily in the run up to Christmas.

In response to customer feedback, from today (1st December) trentbarton will be operating additional rainbow 1 Sunday and evening services, calling at Selston, Underwood, Ironville and Jacksdale.

Alex Hornby, trentbarton Commercial Director, said: “With the assistance of our partners - Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire County Councils - we’re running more evening and Sunday buses, just in time for the run-up to Christmas.

“By introducing the additional services now we are giving customers in these communities the chance to make the most of Sunday shopping ahead of the festive season.

“The extra evening buses are also ideal for anyone planning a Christmas night out as they don’t have to worry about driving after having a drink.”

The additional buses will run between Eastwood and Alfreton every hour, with alternate buses serving either the route through Jacksdale or via Selston.

On Sundays, buses will run to and from Nottingham via Kimberley.

During evenings, buses will run between Alfreton and Eastwood only, and customers can change buses at Eastwood on to other rainbow 1 buses to Nottingham. Through fares will be available.

Timetables will be posted through households along the route, and more details of the new bus times are available at www.trentbarton.co.uk.
