Injunction bans ‘anti-social’ man from estates

John Kavanagh, 27 of no fixed abode was served with the injunction on Friday after the case against him was heard at Mansfield County Court on Tuesday July 21.

The judge granted an anti social behaviour injunction prohibiting him from:

Entering Mansfield Town Centre, Engaging in or threatening to engage in conduct that is capable of causing harassment, alarm or distress to a member of the public in Mansfield district.

Entering and remaining on Teal Avenue, Oak Tree Lane Estate, Willingham Court and Roston Court, Roston Close, Mansfield. The order remains in force until noon on July 24 2017.

Mansfield District Council’s original application was supported by evidence from its Antisocial Behaviour team and Housing officers as well as Nottinghamshire Police and Mansfield BID following repeated unacceptable drunken behaviour in Mansfield Town Centre while breaching Pub Watch bans.

Kavanagh also caused alarm and distress to vulnerable council tenants and staff.

Coun Mick Barton, Portfolio Holder for Public Protection at Mansfield District Council, said: “This individual has engaged in drunken behaviour that is intimidating and threatening to council tenants, staff and others.

“I think that this injunction sends out a clear message to all that this sort of behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

“This case is a great example of partner agencies working together to tackle anti-social behaviour in the district.”
