CHARITY begins at home and the Inner Wheel Club of Hucknall, led by its president, Nova Haskey, has served up a treat for more than 60 local senior citizens by holding its tenth annual Winter Warmer event.

Fun and friendship were the admirable ingredients and the Central Methodist Church Hall, where the Winter Warmer was held, resounded to the sounds of laughter as guests tucked into a delicious three course feast.

“The Winter Warmer has become a seasonal favourite with many people who attend,” said Nova. “It is very rewarding for the Inner Wheel which prides itself on serving the community.”

Eight Inner Wheel club members, as well as Mrs Haskey, were responsible for preparing and serving the meal after which special guests Coun Kevin Rostance and his son Phil provided the entertainment with comedy and singing.

Senior citizens from local churches who attended the event, heaped praise on the Inner Wheel ladies who they said ‘always go the extra mile to ensure we have a real good time at Christmas’.

Nova Haskey paid tribute to members Brenda Ward, Judy Bragg, Karen Sutton, Sue Stanley, Diane White, Beverley Severn, Polly Hill and Vicky Moss, who gave their time to ensure the event’s success.
