Jubilee will boost economy by millions

RETAILERS in the Dispatch district and the rest of Nottinghamshire are to benefit from a sales surge worth an estimated £12 million on the back of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce has analysed a national study to estimate the boost to the economy from spending associated with the landmark occasion.

It found that, nationally, £823 million will be spent on Jubilee-related goods over the extended Bank Holiday, which equates to £12.8 million in Nottinghamshire.

Of that, £2.7 million will be spent on food and snacks, £2.2 million on drinks, £1.02 million on souvenirs and £900,000 on decorations.
