Following a review of their office requirements in Sutton, all services will be transferred to the existing AHL Head Office on Brook Street.

The Council Office at Fox Street, and the AHL Property Shop on Brook Street will close.

Customers of both organisations will be served in future from a re-modelled customer services area on the ground floor at the Brook Street office.

This will combine all of the existing facilities, including the Cash Office, the Property Shop, enquiries about Council Tax and Benefits, and all of the other services currently delivered from the Fox Street office.

The Council and AHL say the changes will make combined savings of £65,000 annually, which will assist both organisations to meet their budget targets in 2015/16.

Coun Dave Shaw, Portfolio Holder for Corporate Services said: “The Council has an ongoing need to make savings, and is also committed to excellent customer care.

This move will allow us to make progress against both these objectives.

Coun Jim Grundy, Chairman of Ashfield Homes added: “It makes sense for the two organisations to share a customer contact point, as currently happens in Kirkby and Hucknall.

“Changes to welfare benefits combined with the effects of the economic downturn make it more important than ever that we can give good advice and assistance to our tenants and residents.”
