Keen shoppers queue for The Range opening

Queues of excited shoppers lined up outside The Range in Sutton for its grand opening.

The store on Station Road, was officially opened in a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Ashfield District Council chairman coun Elizabeth Mays and vice chairman, coun Glenys Christina Maxwell.

Many shoppers were waiting excitedly with their trolleys waiting for the opening.

More than 100 jobs were created thanks to the new opening.

Ashfield District Councillor for regernation, Jim Aspinall said the shop’s opening was warmly welcomed into the district.

He said: “The creation of 100 jobs is fantastic news for the area and the people here.

“This is all part of a movement in our regeneration development to create the right atmosphere and promote the area and all of its benefits.

“It’s great news for the people in this community and is just another start to the area’s future regeneration.”

It was announced earlier this year that the store would bring with it more than 110 part time and full time positions.

The multi-purpose product store offers more than 65,000 products across 16 departments including DIY, homewares, furniture and arts & crafts.

Chris Dawson, the owner and founder of The Range said: “We are very excited to have opened our new store in Sutton and we are pleased to invite the community down to see what we are all about.

“It was fantastic to see so many people turn up this morning and the feedback we have had already has been really positive.

“I am confident that the new store will soon become an integrated part of the community.”
