THE BIG Summer Clean has been launched and Bulwell residents are being challenged to help keep their streets and neighbourhoods spick and span.
Last year, Nottingham was voted the UK’s cleanest big city.
Now Nottingham City Council wants locals to help protect that reputation by organising clean-up events and reporting grotspots, which can be done through its website.
The initiative is running until Wednesday August 31 and already 100 events have been lined up.
Coun Alex Norris (Lab), lead member for area working, cleansing and community safety, said: “The Big Summer Clean offers the opportunity for everyone to get involved and make a real difference to Nottingham.
“You can do your bit by joining one of the local events or by suggesting an event of your own.
“The city council is an expert in cleaning and will support your event and make sure it is safe.
“Or, if there’s something that you notice needs putting right, go online and use the new ‘Report It Now’ service.
“If you want to get more involved in your community, join the ‘My Street’ scheme — it’s like an environmental Neighbourhood Watch scheme.”
