King’s Mill is not facing an A&E crisis this week say bosses as four-hour A&E waiting times miss targets

A spokesman for Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said more people had attended A&E this year, but added:

“We have not declared a major incident or stopped people coming into the department.”

Figures show that King’s Mill missed its four-hour A&E waiting time target this week (22nd-28th December).

Data for Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust shows this week at King’s Mill Hospital 83.7 per cent of patients were seen in four hours.

The target set nationally is 95 per cent.

The figures came as it is reported NHS in England has missed its four-hour A&E waiting time target with performance dropping to its lowest level for a decade.

Nationally from October to December 92.6 per cent of patients were seen in four hours - below the 95 per cent target.

Statistics suggest the previous week was even worse at King’s Mill.

This week’s figures show attendance at A&E was 1,656 - down by 180 from the week before and 270 people had to wait more than four hours to be admitted, which was down by 167 on the previous week.

The national average is 268

Emergency admissions were 545, up by one.

A Major Incident signifies a hospital is are facing exceptional pressures, triggering extra staff being called in and other steps, including cancelling non-emergency care, such as routine operations.
