He was found guilty on all 12 charges following a trial at Nottingham Crown Court this week.

He was also found guilty of three counts of indecent assault against another teenager in the late 1990s.

Wright, formerly of Alfred Street, Kirkby, was sentenced on Tuesday (28th January 2014) to 13 years in prison, plus a further year to run consecutively.

He will sign the sex offenders register for life.

Wright, who was a crane driver at the time of his crimes in the 1980s, preyed on the first girl by giving her lifts home.

But instead of taking her to safety, he took her to a car park and raped her in the back of his van.

He went on to carry out several other assaults against her but she kept her silence because she was too scared of Wright, who was described in court as aggressive and a bully.

DC Alice Dingwall said: “Wright’s predatory behaviour culminated in horrific attacks on vulnerable teenage girls.

“I hope this sentence sends the message that we will robustly investigate historic crimes such as this and will do everything in our power to bring people who prey on youngsters to justice.”
