Lantern parade set to light up the town

YOUNGSTERS are being urged to get creative in order to take part in Hucknall’s annual lantern procession as part of the town’s Christmas Carnival.

Children aged five and above are invited to go along tomorrow (Saturday) to a workshop at the John Godber Centre on Ogle Street (1 pm to 5 pm).

There is a small charge for the workshop of £2 per child.

The procession will take place on Wednesday December 5 at 6.30pm where the children will be invited to bring along their lanterns to the carnival.

The procession will meet at Tesco Extra Car Park on Ashgate Road and parade to Hucknall Market Place where it will join the Carnival.

“The Lantern workshop is always extremely popular and gets the local children into the festive spirit whilst being creative,” said Ashfield District Council ‘s deputy leader, Coun John Wilmott (Lab), of Hucknall.

“The parade is always a popular part of the Hucknall Christmas event.”
