Sarwan Gill (54) of Thames Street in Bulwell admitted stealing a bottle of wine from a supermarket in Nottingham on 10th May.
Nottinghamshire magistrates ordered him to pay compensation of £11.25 and imposed a criminal courts charge of £150.
Paul Richard Wade (31) of Larch Gardens, Nottingham, was sent to prison for 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months after he kicked a man on the ground in Bulwell.
Wade pleaded guilty to the offence which took place on 20th December 2014.

Martyn Anthony Bailey, 31, of Park Drive, Hucknall, admitted drink driving and ignoring a red light on Annesley Road in the town on 28 June.
He also admitted consuming so much alcohol that he had 82 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.
He was fined £440 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £38, as well as costs of £85 and a criminal courts charge of £150. He was disqualified from driving for 20 months.
