LETTER: Thanks, lunch was big success

The Hucknall Pensioners Community Lunch event took place on December 10, just under 100 pensioners enjoyed a Christmas lunch put on by a number of organisations who donated food and equipment and sent volunteers in the preparation and serving of the food.

Representatives from Tesco, John Godber Centre, Hucknall First Community Forum, Ashfield District Council’s CPOs, the Co-operative Society, the police, Wilko’s, Hucknall’s public houses, the local MP, Jan Lees Tesco’s Community Champion, county councillor John Wilmott, Fultons Food Store, B&M stores, the Hucknall Tourism and Regeneration Community Group, and many other community volunteers and retail groups and shops in Hucknall.

The residents were treated to a delicious three course meal of soup or prawn cocktail, a roast turkey main course and either Christmas pudding and custard or trifle, with a mince pie and coffee or tea to finish. A glass of Bucks Fizz greeted everyone on arrival at the event.

Coun John Wilmott said this was an excellent event for the pensioners of Hucknall many of whom do not get the opportunity to attend an event of this type, many thanks to all the volunteers who made this event possible.

We would like to thank Tesco for allowing the event to take place in their store.

Councillor John Wilmott
