Log firm is recycling Christmas trees to help provide holidays for terminally ill children

A Farnsfield log supply company is offering he simplest, greenest and most charitable way to get rid of your Christmas tree this weekend.

Big hearted volunteers from The Wood Man will pick up Christmas trees in the Mansfield area and donate a fee of £3 to the Trewan Sands Children’s Trust which provides special care holidays for terminally ill and disabled children.

Eve Morley, who runs the family business with husband Mark, said: “Not only will we be donating the chippings to allotments but all profits will be sending a local child on a very special holiday.

“We were contacted by the Trust and asked to make a pledge for £35.

“We thought we could do better than that and knowing how popular our tree collections have been over the past few years, we are aiming really high to raise as much as we possibly can with this year’s recycling.”

The couple are busy providing hardwood logs and winter fuel and also install wood-burning stoves and chimneys, so they only have two free days.

Eve added: “ You don`t have to be in you can arrange with us where your payment will be left if you are out. If you are staring at your tree, dreading pine needles in your car, thinking that it is such a shame that your tree is going to be wasted, then fear not.”
