Lost Riders present £800 for Hucknall Children’s Centre

Hucknall’s Children’s Centre was overun with bikers recently when a group brought the youngsters a donation for their Sensory Room Appeal.

Butlers Hill and Broomhill Children’s Centre, run by the Nottinghamshire and Children’s Families Partnership, received £800 from The Lost Riders of the VSOC Bikers Club.

The Bikers arrived in style – 25 of them riding single file down Broomhill Road. Once the bikers, some of whom had come from Northampton, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire, had recovered with a cup of coffee, they were keen to show off their bikes to the families who had attended the Kids Plus Easter Party that morning.

“It is truly amazing how much the Lost Riders have raised for the centre’s sensory room fund,” said Mark Hoyland, children’s centre co-ordinator. “The centre is extremely grateful for the donation and the amount of effort the Lost Riders have put in to raise this amount of money.

“The amount raised by the group alone will enable us to replace our bubble tube. Children and parents from Hucknall who use the sensory room will benefit greatly from the Lost Riders efforts.”

The presentation took place during the Easter fair, organised by Kids Plus, where youngsters were invited to take part in a number of activities including making Easter nests, grass heads, chicken puppets and Easter cards. There was also an Easter Bonnet parade.

Two of the riders, Chris and Wendy Bostock then took on the task of judging the Easter Bonnet Parade after adding a cheque for £126.20 from Hawthorne Primary School, where she is a teaching assistant, having held cake sales amongst other things to raise funds.

“The bikers also brought along Easter eggs which we used to organise an impromptu Easter Egg Raffle and, as if that wasn’t enough, the bikers dug deep in their pockets, throwing loose change (plus a £20 note) into the Easter Bunny’s basket,” added Mr Hoyland.

“In total, the Sensory Room Appeal received a boost of just under £1,000 on this one day, thanks to the VSOC Lost Riders and Hawthorne Primary School. The Children’s Centre would like to say a huge thank you to everybody involved and promise to put the money raised to good use.”
