More trams are to be laid on every Saturday to meet increased demand.

From 27th June, from 10am to 7pm, there will be trams every three to five minutes between David Lane and the city centre. Services to and from Hucknall and Phoenix Park will be every seven minutes.

Weekend ticket offers and the popularity of free park and ride facilities are behind the move, say NET bosses.

Jamie Swift, NET marketing manager, said: “To meet with the extra demand we’ve made a number of timetable improvements, with more frequent services, particularly at peak times on weekdays.

“Now changes to the Saturday timetable will further enhance services and make it easier than ever for weekend workers, shoppers and other visitors to enjoy a quick and reliable trip into the city.

“They can also continue to take advantage of our great value Group Ticket, which offers a day of unlimited travel for two adults - or two adults and up to three children - for just a fiver and free parking at five locations across the city.”
