Dennis Young, aged 89, of Burton Court, York, was charged on Thursday, June 30, with nine counts of indecently assaulting a child aged under 14, at Skegby Hall School, in Skegby, near Sutton-in-Ashfield, between October 1958 and December 1961.

The charges, which were brought following an investigation by officers from Nottinghamshire Police’s Operation Equinox, all relate to the same victim.

Young will appear at Mansfield Magistrates Court on August 3.

Operation Equinox is the Force’s operational name for the on-going investigation of allegations of historical abuse of children at children’s homes and other institutions in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

It includes Operations Daybreak and Xeres, which were each set up for that purpose.

Next month, another man charged following an Equinox investigation will stand trial in Nottingham.

Christopher Metcalfe, 69, of Cross Lane, Blidworth, Nottinghamshire, will stand trial in March 2017, having been charged with offences of rape and indecent assault.
